What threat does the hacking pose to the employer (and the white hat hacker) that he must expose the black hat hacker?
Yes, the hacking is a security breach. ?Yes, the hacking is embarrassing. ?But beyond that, what specific threat to the employer does it pose that compels the good guy to "muckrake" the perpetrator? ?IOW: ?what's at stake, what does his employer and what does the employee stand to lose if he does nothing or fails to catch the hacker?
Given that hacking is rather pandemic, what makes this case different, makes it special, makes it so important that a movie audience would want to spend the money and time to watch him track down and expose the villain?
The plot is too vague for this logline to work, here are? a few points that stood out:
Not sure making the hacker ethical is necessary - all hackers are ethical in their own minds...
Not sure also why the mother is necessary if it's his story.
Lastly, I'm not sure what specifically is the hacker's goal, as this last one is crucial I suggest making sure the goal is clear first before making any other changes.
