This is the best logline here. I love it.

I don't know your story, but I think the logline itself could work with the chef's apprentice rather than a critic... it just reeks of Karate Kid and Bloodsport and all that goodness:

When the kung-fu mafia cripple an ageing Chinese chef, his newest apprentice must learn to cook, and fight, to protect his master's heirloom duck recipe.

Luv it as is, the logline is perfect, covers it all!... I was trying so hard not to burst out laughing yesterday ;D

By the time you mentioned the 'dog food tasting', you had me ROFL.
