When a promising young concert pianist is overlooked for a gifted new student, she must battle for the attention of her neglectful teacher to retain her top spot.

I like this premise, having been a musician in high school, I know how important it is for some players to want to be the first chair, or be seen as the top player.

I think the goal is relatable whether the lead character wins or loses. Perhaps be a bit more specific in what 'winning' looks like.
