What is a mothering Sunday?

Who is the antagonist and why would they be trying to stop your protagonist from reuniting her family?

Could you raise the stakes by clarifying how long the protagonist has left to live, and why having her family reunified would mean so much to her?

Thanks. I think the realisation of her mortatilty, maybe having two husbands die, and her facing the possibilty of death has prompted her. Maybe she won't make it untill her birthday or christmas, but mothers day could be a few months away. Maybe in the past mothers day ment something big to her. I guess i could have one of her children remark that they always go to the inlaws for mothers day, or maybe she's never had that special day.
I'm also not aware of many mothers day themed films, so comercially if made, it would make a great mothers day gift.

Hi. Works for me in as far as I've got a picture of what the story is about (right or wrong). Which is the inciting incident - the death or the impending death? The "sunday" seems a short timeframe / smaller goal. Christmas? Birthday? Some big (for her) special event.

Thanks for the input. The mother has cancer, but it won't be revealed how serious it is till the end. I'm not sure whether to go down the sadness of finding out if it's terminal of the relief of being all clear.
The husband was abbusive but i'm not sure to what degree yet, however she did protect him. Whatever happened she stood by her man. I think he'll be the stepfather as i can be implied how great things we're before he arrived. I'm thinking emotional abbusive as opposed to physically.
The children may not just be upset with her maybe gelousy amongst one another, she loved one more than the others etc.
I'm thinking that she knew he was wrong, but it was the only way she knew how to keep her family together (when they were younger).

Hi, I like family dramas, so your story intrigues me. By I was left with a few questions:
the 'news of her future''may be her last' sounds like a bit of a tease, if you're trying to say she has a life threatening situation, then tell us. I also wanted a bit more information on her. She's a bit of a cypher at the moment. How did she survive with an abusive husband, did it scatter her family, how did she feel about that? Would no one come back because of the husband? Would love to know just a bit more.
