This is very straight forward and easy to visualise as a film. I would also take out immigrant or be more specific. What culture are they from? This way we can see them. Good luck with it. PF
I like this. My gut originally was telling me it's too wordy after first read, but the core of the story is strong without little detail - just the way it should be.
