As Richiev asked.? Why now?? What's the inciting incident that triggers his intention to get revenge now?

And what skin does the princess have in the game?? Why would she want to partner up with an alien species, a werewolf?? What's in it for her? Seems to me she would be even more reluctant to partner up with him than he with her.

Why now?

If the slaughter happened when the werewolf was a child, why is he getting his revenge at this particular moment? Why not go after the mysterious knight last year? Why not go after the mysterious knight next year?

What happened that causes the lead character to take action and get justice right now?

Also, you can drop the part about, "trying to follow in his ancestors' footsteps" because it distracts the reader with a second goal. The main goal seems to be to get justice for his slaughtered village. So you don't need the second goal of following in his ancestor's footsteps.
