He has to fulfill his vow, and carry heavy cross (like Jesus) to the church's altar.

Hmmm. Sounds tricky indeed. Maybe bring it back to basics? First: What is your protagonists main action?

Hmmm this one is become trickier than I thought originally...

When a stubborn Father block the church entrance, a simple devout have to make sense of the ensuing confusion with press, church and population if he is to fulfill his vow.

And it is not looking good yet... There is quite a few elements that is left out of the logline (and probably should) such as the cultural context of Brazil at the time. For instance, the rivalry between Catholic Church and african religions. One of the reasons the Father gets so pissed off is that his understanding that he made a vow to a pagan saint, not Saint Barbara, and so on..

sounds fun
Your review post reads more "visual" than the logline you posted originally. You might wanna incorporate more tangible goals than
"misunderstanding intentions" or enduring aggravating opposition" or "fulfilling vow"

This is based on "The Given Word", brazilian movie from the 60's. A simple man makes a vow to Santa Barbara to carry a heavy wooden cross up to the altar, but when reaching there, the Father do not let him in, because the vow was made so his donkey could live (plus other things). Then a fuss come about, with cops, press and politics gets involved in the case heheh.

I have to admit, I have a really hard time understanding this. Maybe give us some more detail?
