Thank you for the very good questions. I don't want it to be a revenge story.. So I made his father an ex-pirate who had a treasure map. Bandits locate him years later for the map. So our hero embarks…

on A teenager hunts the killer of his father but falls in love with the daughter of his enemy. Can he kill the beloved father of the woman he loves?

I see this as a Southern Crime/Romance story. In the likes of "Mud" and "Monster's Ball"
on A young reporter investigates a case involving a mysterious videotape which causes the death of anyone who watches it.

I like the fact that he tells us videotape causes deaths. Otherwise it would be too much "hiding the ball" The log would loose it's zing.
on A scared monster accidentally destroys tokyo and now must rebuild the city while avoiding capture from a crazy zoologist.

There is something shinny in here (but needs work) It sounds something in between a Manga & Pixar If you chisel this out for a 3D family film it could work
